Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the administration and coordination of human resource functions for approximately 60 employees under the oversight of the Senior Director of Finance and Operations.
Salary range $80-90,000/year.

Communicate benefits status changes requiring payroll adjustments to Finance department for implementation.
Assist with the annual review, analysis, research, and selection of benefits plans.
Serve as liaison to insurance brokers and other benefit service providers.
Advise employees on their benefits options and other benefits-related questions.
Assist employees with FMLA and other leave requests.
Recruitment Manage and conduct sourcing for job openings, including advertiser selection, ad drafting, ad posting, and pro-active prospect outreach.
Conduct initial screening of job applicants and schedule subsequent interviews as appropriate.
Conduct reference and background checks in accordance with ETM policy.
Conduct candidate interviews as needed.
Promote ETM as an employer of choice Contribute to developing and implementing recruitment techniques to create and foster an open and inclusive environment aligned with ETM's DEI values On-boarding/Off-boarding Perform initial systems setup for new office staff, interns/volunteers, and music teachers, (e.
g.
, Email, HRIS, time-keeping systems, phone, intranet account, copiers/scanners, building security, etc.
).
Conduct initial policy, systems, legal compliance, and benefits orientations for new office staff and music teachers.
Assist employees with basic support requests related to systems use covered during orientation, and otherwise forward systems issues to managers, Senior Director of Finance & Operations, or technology helpdesk support as appropriate.
Draft termination letters and severance agreements, with support from ETM's pro bono counsel as needed.
Facilitate employee termination meetings.
Disable systems access, coordinate return of ETM property, reclamation of employee personal property, provide benefits continuation information, and provide other administrative support for terminated employees.
Conduct exit interviews and collate exit interview data for later review.
Performance management Contribute to annual reviews and recommendations for improvement of the organization's policies and practices on human resource matters.
Support managers in job analysis and job description development as directed by Senior Director of Finance & Operations or Chief Executive Officer.
Counsel managers in various performance management functions, including goal setting, performance evaluations, performance improvement plans and progressive discipline as directed by Senior Director of Finance & Operations or Chief Executive Officer.
Monitor implementation of performance management tools and follow-up with managers, Senior Director of Finance & Operations, or Chief Executive Officer when tools are not used as directed.
Communicate changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
HR information systems Manage and maintain HRIS and related personnel files and documents.
Maintain compliance with internal document retention policies related to HR documentation.
Process and document employee status changes, including titles and compensation.
Produce reports on employee data and statistics.
Respond to employment verification requests in accordance with ETM policy.
Employee relations Counsel managers on employee relations issues Investigate employee complaints Conduct employee surveys as needed HR policies and procedures Prepare and maintain employee manuals.
Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the HR function.
Help orient and counsel managers on HR policy and procedures.
Assist in drafting and editing of written HR policies and procedures.
Support implementation of volunteer management policies across the organization.
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensure organization's compliance.
Contribute to development of training and initiatives to create and foster an open and inclusive environment.
Employment law compliance Periodically review policies and procedures for legal compliance, and alert management to any known compliance risks stemming from new activities.
Coordinate legal support with ETM's pro bono lawyers on HR related matters and document reviews.
Process any employee complaints in accordance with ETM policy.
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Finance & Operations or Chief Executive OfficerMinimum qualifications Bachelor's Degree 3 years related work experience in human resources management, legal compliance, and support Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
Excellent general written and verbal communication skills.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn new software.
Ability to quickly identify and assess potential legal compliance and ethical practice issues related to HR policies and practices.
